Tivoli Systems Management Developer - USA-CA-Corona

Title: Tivoli Systems Management Developer

Location: Corona, CA

Shift: Open

Skills: IBM Tivoli, BMC Patrol; UNIX, Linux and Windows server, Shell (korn/posix, bash), Perl, DOS batch scripting. Netcool experience a plus.


This position reports to the Manager of Processing Services Command Center Operations located in Corona, CA. This position is responsible for performing monitor evaluation, development, testing and distribution of enterprise monitors for Command Center support personnel. This position will also perform other duties as required by the manager of the operations team. This position also has on-call support responsibilities and will be part of the operations monitoring on-call rotation.


Position Responsibilities:

1) Maintain technical proficiency in the Tivoli space, including future deployments planned by the Implementation team.

2) Participates in the evaluation of new products or modifications that will enhance

the Tivoli infrastructure with an emphasis on monitoring.

3) Generates alternatives, evaluates options and provides recommendations on enhancements to the Tivoli infrastructure.

4) Maintains a data repository of the current status of monitoring within the production environment.

5) Works with individual contributors, clients and vendors, as necessary, to achieve timely problem resolution of problems and requests.

6) Responsible for the integrity of the production environment and the maintenance processes used.

7) Insures compliance with installation and quality standards, with all change management procedures and NOPS Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

8) Designs the integration and implementation of various technologies and systems architectures.

9) Works with individual contributors and vendors to achieve timely and complete software installation and maintenance.

10) Develops specifications to insure complete testing of all planned installations of software into the production environment or into environments where Tivoli software resides.

11) Develops plans and processes for major installations.

12) Assists in developing technical skills of associate and intermediate personnel.

13) Provides guidance and training to intermediate and associate level staff.

14) Adheres to all process management policies and guidelines, including change and problem management.

15) Participates in on-call duties.

16) Availability for 7X24 support.

17) Provides first and second level problem diagnosis and problem resolution using a standardized approach for correcting basic monitoring problems independently.

18) Responsible for implementing application Change Control process.

19) Knowledge of Software Distribution functionality, in support of pushing, monitoring, correcting problems and reporting status of the deployments.

20) Develop and publish reports that track and report on the status of distributions.

21) Develop and publish preliminary ad hoc reports for the various clients, based on their requirements.


Position Requirements:

1) Good written and verbal communication skills. Self starter, motivated, success oriented team player.

2) Seven years experience working with various server operating systems: UNIX, Linux and Windows.

3) Five years experience with Enterprise Systems Management software: IBM Tivoli, BMC Patrol.

4) Three years experience with various scripting/programming languages: shell (korn/posix, bash), perl, DOS batch.

5) B.S. degree in Computer Science, Business Administration or other related field, 5+ years experience as a systems programmer. Significant and relevant technical experience meeting the job description may be substituted for degree requirements.

6) Hands-on experience with Tivoli Framework and suite of products.

7) Knowledge of the Tivoli three tier structure, from the TMR and how it operates with gateway and end point management

Ability to trouble shoot and correct problems within the TMR, gateway and endpoints

8) Knowledge of distributed monitors a plus

Must possess analytical ability, strong judgement and problem analysis techniques.

9) Excellent customer service experience working in a team environment.

Knowledge of shell scripting, C, and Perl programming languages.

10) Project planning experience.

11) Knowledgeable in using standard business Windows applications (e.g., Microsoft Word and Excel).


Preferred Qualifications:

1) Familiarity with IBM Tivoli Monitoring (ITM) version 6 agents and infrastructure.

2) Familiarity with web design and maintenance.

3) Familiarity with Mercury BAC

4) Familiarity of HP Orchestrater – Run Book Automation.

4) Familiarity with IBM Websphere and related technologies (java, jython, wsdl, xml).
